PFO 2010

All the text is from www.pfopen.pl

The seventh edition of The North Face Polish Freeskiing Open went off last weekend, 29th – 30th of January, in Zakopane (Poland). More than 50 international freeski riders competed in two contests – Big Air and Rails. Roy Kittler from Germany took all by winning Big Air, Rails and Night Session competitions. The prize for the first place in woman’s category went to Natalia Slepecka (Rails) and Zuzana Stromkova (Big Air) both from Slovakia.

Szczepan Karpiel defend a title of Freeskiing Champion of Poland. Moreover the four unsponsored juniors get their chance to become proriders by getting to the final of The North Face Ski Challenge in Val Thorens.

After two days of hard competition in a fantastic snowpark built specially for TNF PFO 2010 on Harenda Slope in Zakopane best riders were chosen to share 50 000 prize purse. On the first day riders were fighting for a place in finals. Per Christian Fosse was a king of a big kicker (17,5m) and Roy Kittler won qualifications in Rails, as well as jibbing night session.

But Saturday was definitely the day to be for all fans that came to watch finals and semi – finals. After semi-finals, PC Fosse (NOR) that showed unbelievable Kangaroo Flip, seemed to be a 100% winner. However the situation has changed after Roy Kittlers (GER) switch double Cork 900 – trick that made him number 1 in the Big Air. The second place was taken by Jonas Hunziker (SUI) and the third by PC Fosse.

The best of Polish riders – Freeskiing Champion of Poland – was fourth in overall standings, Jan Krzysztof took second place, before Piotr Wojarski.
Also fans that came to watch the Rails final weren’t disappointed. Roy Kittler (GER) won in Men’s Rail and Natalia Slepecka in woman’s category.

For the first time this year four best, unsponsored riders aged 12 – 20 get their ticket to the final of freeride and freestyle competition - The North Face Ski Challenge in Val Thorens. The titled sponsor will cover all costs of the trip of Stanisław Kastory, Janek Daniel Gąsienica, Jakub Kozioł and Pavol Kuric to the competition finals in March.

In the semi-finals it was 3 jumps, and the best 2 counted.
So i did a kangaroo flip 900 japan, and a flat 540 japan-nose.
Got third i the semi, so i was trough to the finals.

In the finals it was 2 jumps, best counted, there i did a kangaroo 900 japan with a poke.
It was enough to a 3 place, pretty stoked on that couse it is my first contest after my major injury. Roy Kittler won with a sw dub cork 9 mute, and the second place was to jonas, he did a sw 1080 mute.

Polish Freeskiing Open

Now I am in Poland for the Polish Freeskiing Open 2010.
It is a Big air contest, and my first contest after my major injury 2 and a half month ago. Today was the Qualify, and we got like 2 hour of practice, I got quickly used to the jump, wish was good, It was a very poppy kicker, and we got way good hangtime!!
did some 360 and rodeos before I started with the kangaroo flip 900 japan, very fun to do kangaroos on the jump with so good hangtime, I think I did some of my best kangaroos ever in the practise, did it with a poke, and some shifteys.

In the first run I went faaar down in the landing and crashed, wish sucked because I landed all my kangaroos in the practice, but in the second run i landed it( not so good as in the practice, but I think it was pretty good)

I got First place in the qualifying, wish was dope! so stoked!
Tomorrow it is the semis and finals.
The semi-finals will be just as the qualification, 2 runs, best one count.
In the finals, it will be 5 jumps, 3 counting, where one of the tricks can not be more than a 540 aka Style, but the 2 others will be a tech tricks. like kangaroos..

The jump.

Good lunch

Now im back

Hey People!

Finally i feel that i can ski like i did before, feels great!

I have been at Filefjell for 4 days, and been shredding pow, and jumpin on BC kickers.
This was actually my first time jumpin BC kickers, and it was damn fun!!

Here is a photo from Filefjell, it is a 360 dub mute (first hit)

Landed also my first kangaroo flip 9 in the pow, pretty stoked at it!

Now i am just going to practise home in Norway, and get in shape!
Varingskollen has a pretty dope park now, and Tryvann has so many good rails.
So it works very well to practise here in Norway.

Here is Petter Bolstad and Jørgen Platou, we hiked all the way to the top!
Thats what i call training! ha.

Jørgen Platou is Building one of our kickers, yea!

Sorry for late update, i will try to update more often from now on!
